I am a 35 year old Independent who is seeking to talk with those who consider themselves liberals. I will be clear from the start that I am not seeking a fight. I am not seeking to put each other down. I am not seeking to demean and degrade each other. I am not seeking to insult each other. I’ve been an independent for most of my life. I have always felt that there were things that both sides did right and things that both sides did wrong. I still feel that way, but now, and for the past several years, feel as if I have no choice but to move to the right. I would like to talk to some people who identify as liberal to discuss and learn from each other. To perhaps learn why I am not getting the policies of the modern day left. Again, I will not insult you, I will not wag my finger in your face, and I will not pick a fight with you. I hope you won’t to me either. Instead, I would like to have respectful conversation. I can tell you how things are from my perspective, and I would like to learn what things are like from your perspective. Let’s discuss what we have in common, let’s discuss how we differ. Let me tell you why some of the policies terrify me, and let me listen to your response. Let me listen to you and why some of the policies of the right terrify you, and let me give you my response. I do not think liberals are bad people. I do not think conservatives are bad people. I will not judge you, and hope you won’t judge me. Let’s listen to each other and learn. If you reply to this ad, please be sincere. Sending hate messages, regardless of which side you are on is pointless. Let’s have good conversation. Let’s discuss the hard topics. I assure you I won’t get upset and start yelling if I hear something I don’t like and I hope you won’t either. I assure you I will give you honest responses, I won’t give one sentence closed ended responses. Let’s talk and maybe we can make a friend out of it.
