Description
Cerulean Gallery is pleased to announce the opening reception for INNER BLOOM, featuring four Texas-based artists. Cerulean Gallery is eager to welcome spring by adorning their walls with vibrant pigments in a variety of styles. Local Highland Park artist, Liana Yarckin, will be showcasing a new watercolor series based on her love for the beach, architecture and nature. She has an architecture/interior design background and has earned Signature Status in the Southwestern Watercolor Society as well as received multiple awards in art competitions. Xan Sinclair Koonce will be celebrating her recent move to the DFW area, as well as her 10th exhibition with Cerulean Gallery with her rich and expressive oil paintings. She combines the random actions of painting with controlled, deliberated mark-making in an effort to describe each form, oftentimes appearing like floral or plantlike structures. Rockport’s celebrated artist, Robin Hazard, is a graduate of SMU Meadows School of the Arts. Hazard was recently presented as Rockport’s 2021 Art Festival poster artist, a tradition the last 29 years of the annual Art Festival, which is now in its 53rd year. Known for her oversized oil paintings and intensely hued abstract pastels, Hazard’s focus is primarily centered on the landscapes of her previous home in Arkansas, as well her visits to the south Texas coast. The contrast between the Arkansas and Texas landscapes is as striking as the juxtaposition of colors and shapes in her work. INNER BLOOMS’s guest artist, Cindy Johnston, is a participant of the Belong Disability Ministry and has been creating unique masterpieces with her father, Jim Johnston, for over two decades. What started as a way to improve Cindy’s fine motor skills turned into an undeniable talent, which ultimately led her to become an artist. Cindy and Jim have teamed up to create unique masterpieces, rich in color and visual intrigue. After Jim draws the designs, Cindy carefully selects the colors and meticulously fills them in, producing truly beautiful works. The finished pieces could be classified in several different styles, including modern, geometric, abstract, and Southwest-inspired. *Information provided by Highland Park United Methodist Church.
