Description

Enjoy a Desert Oasis Poolside Chat Presented by PIRCH About Desert Oasis Show HouseDesign Collaborative presents Desert Oasis Show House in Indian Wells located in the Coachella Valley, the center of Southern California’s premier desert resort communities. The 4,350-square-foot Desert Oasis, situated within the exclusive El Dorado Estates, was originally designed in 1978 by Architect John Walling as a personal tribute to classic mid-century design. Building off of Walling’s mid-century creation, the house reflects the beauty and ease of the South Pacific surf lifestyle masterfully merged with a crisp, refined aesthetic. Pirch, a leading retailer of luxury kitchen, bathroom, and outdoor appliances and fixtures, will act as Premier Sponsor of Desert Oasis. As Premier Sponsor, Pirch will provide the core appliances, water fixtures, and hardware throughout the kitchen, bathroom, and outdoor areas of the show house. Desert Oasis lead designer Michael Berman, of Michael Berman Limited, brings a mastery of American Modern style that he expresses through a mid-century sensibility. The house references classic Tiki and surf nostalgia that has been curated by homeowner Jeph White, providing a unifying motif throughout every room of the installation. Chris Barrett, Palm Desert based designer and founder at Chris Barrett Design, plays an influential role in further differentiating it from others with its cohesive thematic approach. Barrett creates a stunning statement with the installation of a slender 16 foot wa’a (dugout canoe) mounted to the grass-covered wall across from the bed in the Primary Bedroom. Desert Oasis has also enlisted the work of esteemed designers Linda Allen, Donna Johnson, Jenika Kurtz, Shannon Palmer, Jen Samson, Huma Sulaiman, Amy Wax, and Maya Williams to interpret the theme in their individual visions. Each of the designers worked in conjunction with Senior Curator Chip Tom of Heather James Fine Art to select fine art to complement their designs. Displaying works of art totalling upward of $10 million, Desert Oasis will feature works by distinguished artists such as Picasso, Warhol, Chihuly, de Kooning, Rauschenberg, and Bertoia. David Wood of Big Wood Builders, and John Feldman, of Ecocentrix Landscape Architecture, both play a crucial role in the buildout and exterior treatments further elevating the postwar fascination with the South Pacific for modern sensibilities. Barrett and John Feldman combine design forces for the exterior design to maximize the dramatic views of the pool and the nearby barranca. Design for a Cause In upholding its unwavering commitment to supporting meaningful causes, a percentage of Desert Oasis Show House proceeds will be donated to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, FIND Food Bank, and the Special Olympics South California.
