This year is going to be a bit different when it comes to holidays. It will be a complicated time where some people are all going to think differently than you. That means we all need to keep an open mind when it comes to picking up your treats for trick or treating. It is now Fall and the leaves have changed and the weather is looking good for Halloween this year. But it is going to be a sad thing if no one ends up doing it in our neighborhood. So far we are working on making safe rules for our location and keeping up with the ability to let our kids have fun in a safe way. We all decided that not doing a tradition for fear is just not a good lesson to teach our children. We wanted to let everyone who wants to participate to do so, but to happily let anyone who does not want to do also not be involved without fear of being pestered. So we created friendly signs that stated that those individuals were not participating. It was a fun spooky sign and the residents really liked the idea. Mostly our older residents wanted to not have children knocking on their door this year and we were happy to make sure that also those who live outside our residence knew that the signs meant that. So once we decided to head out and go trick or treating we knew we needed to head to the store. Like most places in our nation, we knew we needed to get our face masks in order to enter the shopping store. There were so many options this year and that was a wonderful thing to see. But we wanted to be really careful when it came to getting our favorite treats. This year we know that safety is really key and that many people are not going to want to participate and to get anything that cannot be cleaned. This was going to be a little bit of a challenge because many people like to make their own homemade treats. This year it may not be a smart idea to make homemade treats for this holiday. People across the nation feel that they should clean the candy before their kids eat it. It may be for other reasons than COVID-19 as well. This is not a bad thing, but something you should be aware of. I don't anyone to buy or spend time on something that no one picks up or enjoys. That is sad on all ends and we want people to be happy this year. So when shopping for treats, look for candy boxes that can withstand sanitizer or cleaning sprays. If you buy candy boxes that are simply made of cardboard they may end up absorbing the cleaner and that would not be safe. So pick your candy wisely this year and don't get something that could hurt anyone. Just expect everything to be sprayed with a cleaner and choose your treats accordingly It is also going to be wise to find a way to distribute treats without having kids digging for them. So a table or spreading the treats on the driveway or porch may be the best option this year. I hope these tips help you have a happy Halloween.
