Faena Art and Bridge Initiative present an evening of conversation, conservation and cocktails at the Faena Mammoth Garden. Join Dr Andy Szabo, Director of the Alaska Whale Foundation and National Geographic Explorer, Kate Fleming, Founder and Director of Bridge Initiative, and Paul North, Founder and Director of Meet the Ocean as they discuss the health of our changing oceans. This event will be followed by an auction to raise funds for Alaska Whale Foundation’s new Ocean Health Program and a cocktail reception in the garden. *Cocktails from Mijenta Tequila, a small batch premium tequila producer and advocate for marine conservation. Covid-19 Protocol Masks recomended At check-in, guests are required to show proof of vaccination or confirmation of a negative PCR test within 48 hours of the event. Bridge and Faena Art are closely monitoring CDC Guidelines and recommends guests stay home should they be experiencing any symptoms of Covid-19. Alaska Whale Foundation (AWF) is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Research Organization based in Petersburg, Alaska. Since 1996, AWF has been supporting impassioned scientists and research initiatives that promote the conservation of marine mammals and coastal ecosystems. AWF’s work is supported by the National Geographic Society, Lindblad Expeditions, the North Pacific Research Board, and several benefactors. Recently, AWF launched the Ocean Health Program, a collaborative, multifaceted initiative to address the impacts of ocean warming on Alaska’s marine ecosystem. Bridge Initiative (Bridge) is a Nonprofit Organization that connects artists and scientists to promote environmental advocacy through the creation of public art. Bridge’s mission is to shift the collective consciousness in a way that makes the health of our planet a priority. To date, Bridge has collaborated with artists, designers, and contemporary leaders such as David Benjamin Sherry, Alaska Whale Foundation, Coral Morphologic, NOAA, Michele Oka Doner, Orlando Estrada, The Everglades Foundation, Path of The Panther, The Reefline and Carlos Betancourt among others. Meet the Ocean (MtO) is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization creating dynamic conservation media that entertains as it educates. Since 2017, MtO’s Director Paul North has produced award-winning films, podcasts, and youth outreach campaigns that redefine how we communicate the importance of our planet's saltwater ecosystems with a specific focus on polar regions. FAENA ART is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization that houses and produces post-disciplinary and time-based experiences. A catalyst for innovative, site-specific, and immersive creative practices, Faena Art is a transformative bridge across the Americas, between the south and the north, the popular and the experimental. Faena Art fosters new models for performative social interaction that transcend the traditional boundaries of art, science, philosophy, and social practice.
