DUBLIN, CA — Dublin Unified School District Trustee Amy Miller has announced she will not be seeking re-election, but endorsed candidate Kristin Pelham in the race for her District 1 seat.
Pleasanton Weekly first reported the news.
Miller, who did not respond to requests for comment Thursday, said in a statement to her campaign Facebook page earlier this month that she has known for a while that the would not seek re-election, though she said she believes the district will "continue to [progress] and we will get through this pandemic and 'leadership' issue and our children will continue to thrive."
Miller has served the board since 2010. She said her tenure has been one marked by personal, professional and spiritual grown, though she mentioned frustrations experienced in the past year.
"As many of you know, serving on a School Board isn't for the faint of heart," she wrote.
Miller said the farewell is made easier knowing that Pelham "is a great candidate ready to dedicate herself to the campaign and the job."
Pelham is a longtime Dublin resident who has taught special education in a neighboring district for 20 years, according to her campaign website. She has two kids in Dublin schools.
