Oakland-based indie folk/rock trio, Kalinders, seeks a serious lead guitarist (and/or pedal steel guitarist!) and/or keys player. I've been performing under the moniker Kalinders for about 3 years now, both solo and as a band. After the long covid-induced hiatus, I am hopping back into gigging this spring and looking to add more melodic instrumentation to a very sweet rhythm section! Kalinders is moody, soulful, and dynamic - at times delicate and pretty, and at times cathartic and raucous. I hope to make music that is timeless — my songwriting is equally inspired by contemporary female greats (Adrianne Lenkler/Big Thief, Angel Olsen, Julia Jacklin, Broadcast) and the classics (Bob, Bruce & George, Karen Dalton, Billie Holiday, Patsy Cline, Wings, the Stones) while incorporating elements of blues, jazz and country. I'm releasing my first two professionally recorded singles this Spring, and then planning to hop back into recording a EP with a respected Bay Area producer in late spring/early summer. I'm well connected in the local SF/East Bay indie music scene and am planning to gig 2-4x a month, and possibly go on a regional tour this summer. Kalinders has performed at Amados SF, Brick & Mortar, The White Horse, Hotel Utah, among others, as well as as paid private events, breweries and bars. Looking for a lead guitarist (+++ bonus pts. for lap steel/pedal steel) and/.or keyboardist with a delicate touch — this is a very vocal forward project, so less is likely more! I am primarily interested in folks with a proclivity for making interesting sounds and textures. If you are looking to shred this is probably not the project for you! We currently practice on Thursday evenings at Oakland Music Commons (some flexibility here for Tues or even Weds in the future). We are in our late 20's and would prefer that you be somewhere around that too! Serious inquiries only!
