Advocating for Change: The Strength of Our Voices The Michigan Women’s Surgical Collaborative (MWSC) is thrilled to host the next Michigan Women’s Surgical Collaborative Symposium on April 21-22, 2022 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Graduate Hotel in Ann Arbor, MI. The annual leadership conference is a platform for national outreach designed to engage early- and mid-career faculty, senior residents, and fellows with experts in leadership and career-building approaches. Participants hear speakers on issues and challenges confronting women and underrepresented faculty members and are also provided individualized coaching opportunities based on self-evaluation of their own leadership and conflict styles. This event is sponsored by the Michigan Medicine Department of Surgery. The theme of the event is "Advocating for Change: The Strength of Our Voices." This year’s talks will focus on: Social Determinants of HealthAddressing Gun Violence for PatientsGeneral Patient AdvocacyAddressing Continued InequitiesAddressing Surgeon Health and WellnessLeveraging Resources at the Regional and National LevelBreakout sessions will focus on: Identifying Your “Why”Peer Support Networks and CoachingWe will also facilitate networking groups and host a reception after the first day of the symposium! Follow #MWSC2022 on Twitter for updates. Event Safety: We will manage this conference with the health, safety, and well-being of our attendees, staff and speakers in mind. We reserve the right to modify these policies and procedures at any time given the rapidly changing nature of the current global pandemic. Vaccination Requirement: All participants in attendance will be required to be fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination. "Full vaccination" means that either 14 days have passed since receiving the second dose of FDA or WHO authorized (or emergency use authorized) double-dozed vaccines or single-dose vaccine. Mask Requirement: We ask everyone to wear masks regardless of vaccination status. You may remove your mask while actively eating or drinking or presenting, but please put it back on when finished.
