Description

Join us for duck and gull watching along the St. Clair River from Algonac State Park to Lighthouse Park in Port Hurón. Join field trip leader Joanna Pease for an adventure along St. Clair River to look for ducks and gulls. We will start at the riverside parking lot at Algonac State Park at 8:30 AM. We will then explore the river going north stopping at viewpoints in Marine City, St. Clair, Marysville and Port Huron ending at Lighthouse Park. There are opportunities to see many overwintering diving ducks including rafts of Long-tailed Ducks plus hopefully all three species of scoters. Rarities in the past have included Harlequin Duck and King Eider. There is also potential for many gulls including Iceland, Glaucous and Lesser Black-backed. The itinerary is subject to change (or cancel for inclement weather) depending on the amount of snow and condition of the parking lots particularly at the starting point. This group is limited to 12 people and no more than seven cars. Please wear masks and practice social distancing. A waiver for Covid 19 is included in the registration process and the following protocols will be in place in order to have a safe walk for all involved: 1.
