NEWTON, MA — Newton Community Pride (NCP) will open applications on March 1 for their first round of 2022 Community Micro Grants. Grants must align with the mission of NCP to support arts and culture, service, and beautification in the Newton community. The organization is providing $10,000 toward this year's micro grant commitment, which includes a spring and fall grant cycle. "Newton Community Pride believes strongly in providing seed money to support greatideas, local events and service projects that enhance our villages and build community,"said NCP Executive Director Blair Sullivan in a statement. "To many artists, small nonprofits and neighborhood groups, a little bit of financial support goes a long way in building their mission to provide arts programming, service and beautification projects. NCP is happy to help." Prior NCP grant recipients include Newton Theatre Company, Cappella Clausura Inc., Service Stars' African Library Project, Juneteenth Celebration, Suzuki School Faculty Holiday Concert, Jewish Arts Collaborative, Newton Pan Asian Cultural Festival, public art murals at New City Church and in Nonantum, Newton Indigenous Peoples Day, 4C Tree Covid Remembrance Project, and support for Welcome Home Afghan refugee support. Past grants have averaged between $700 to $1,100.00. All micro grant applications are due April 1, 2022. For more information about NCP's Community Micro Grant program, click here.
