Description

Press release from the Town of Westport: 02/22/2022 9:00 AM Planner Michael Kiselak has announced that on Feb. 28, 2022, at 7:00 PM, the Planning and Zoning Commission is holding a public hearing on Text Amendment #808 to modify the Zoning Regulations. The remote meeting will be held virtually via Zoom. Text Amendment #808, submitted by Richard Redniss of Redniss and Mead, proposes to modify the definition of "Unified Shopping Center" (USC) in §5-2, Definitions, of the Zoning Regulations to include additional non-residential uses that can qualify a property as a USC, such as Office, Restaurant, Healthcare Professional and Medical. This would enable additional properties to utilize the USC parking standards adopted by the Commission in 2021. Text Amendment #808 can be viewed online here. The applicant stated in their Explanatory Statement that the aim of the amendment is to: "Provide the flexibility needed to help…Unified Shopping Centers respond to the increasing difficulties of the brick-and-mortar retail and the changing dynamics of retail uses." The Feb. 28, 2022 public hearing will be live streamed at 7:00 PM on the Town's website at www.westportct.gov, and accessible on Optimum Government Access Channel 79 and Frontier Channel 6020.  Comments can be sent prior to the meeting at [email protected] and interested parties may join the meeting virtually to offer live testimony during the meeting.
