FALMOUTH, MA — The Cape Cod, Grafton and Bryant University communities are rallying to support the family of James Koshivos, 21, who died Sunday after his car crashed into the ocean at a Falmouth beach.
Koshivos was a Grafton resident and student at Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island. His college friend Garrett Moloney organized a GoFundMe campaign to help Koshivos' family pay for funeral services. As of Tuesday afternoon, the campaign raised more than $5,200 of its $10,000 goal.
In the GoFundMe post, Moloney described Koshivos as "a loving, friendly, and genuine man who has made an impact on the lives of so many."
"James was set to graduate from Bryant University in the spring and was an unforgettable member of the Bryant community, where he met some of the best friends of his life and joined the Sigma Chi fraternity where he created a massive impact on all of their philanthropic events," Moloney said. "James was as good a guy as they make them. He had a giving personality and would never shy away from lending a helping hand."
Koshivos was a finance major and a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity, Bryant President Ross Gittell said in an email to students and faculty.
"Our hearts go out to his family and friends, including the brothers of Sigma Chi, during this difficult time," Gittell said.
