Description
PUYALLUP, WA — If you drive a commercial vehicle in Pierce County, you'll want to be on your best behavior this week. That's because Washington State Patrol troopers, joining Commercial Vehicle Division troopers and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officers will all be out on the roads for a commercial vehicle emphasis patrol.
The patrol, which aims to crack down on any and all violations by commercial vehicles, kicked off Tuesday and will run through Thursday.
The emphasis patrol comes as the county grapples with an increasing number of car crash and traffic fatalities. There have been dozens of high-profile crashes inside Pierce County in the first few months of 2022 alone. Last year, the county saw the highest number of car crash-related deaths in a decade, with over 30 deadly crashes, FOX 13 reported.
