BROOKLINE, MA — A 37-year-old Malden man is facing multiple charges following erratic behavior at a JD Exxon Gas station in Brookline, said police. Officers responded to the gas station around 8:30 p.m. Friday after receiving a call from a woman who had intentionally locked herself in the bathroom. She told police she did so because the passenger in her car, an acquaintance, was aggressively waving around a firearm while she was driving. Police said the suspect was still sitting inside the vehicle when they arrived. They removed the passenger, who denied being in possession of a firearm, and conducted a pat-frisk during which they found and removed a Glock 9mm firearm. The investigation revealed that the man did not possess a License to Carry, said police. He also had an outstanding warrant out of Lynn District Court. Police said the man was taken into custody and charged with Possession of a Firearm Without an FID Card, Assault By Means of a Dangerous Weapon , and a Straight Warrant out of Lowell District Court for two counts of Credit Card Fraud Over $1200 and one count of Larceny Over $1200. "We continue to be proud of our dispatchers and our officers, whose intelligence, bravery and good tactics helped handle this situation in a way that ensured the safety of everyone involved," said the Brookline Police Department in a statement. "We'd also like to commend the driver for calling us, and JD Exxon for their full cooperation."
