The Marcy Gulch Wastewater Treatment Plant is undergoing an upgrade to the treatment facility to meet advanced nutrient removal standards. The position offers a unique opportunity to participate in the startup, operation and optimization of one of the leading facilities in Colorado. Duties include performing a variety of tasks, skilled and semi-skilled, necessary to ensure the efficient and effective wastewater operations. The Operator will control and monitor mechanical, biological, and chemical wastewater treatment processes by conducting routine visual inspections, interpreting instrument readings, and performing and interpreting lab tests. At a minimum, applicants must have passed their Colorado “D” Wastewater exam or be able to obtain a “D” Wastewater certification within 6 months of hire via testing or reciprocity. A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required and higher education in biology, microbiology or an engineering science is preferred. Applicants must have a strong understanding of chemistry, biology, hydraulic, mechanical, and electronic concepts as they relate to water and wastewater treatment. This is a 12 hour per day shift position and requires day and night shifts, rotating monthly. Pre-employment screening, which includes background check, drug screen and motor vehicle record check will be performed for all candidates who are offered employment.
