JOLIET, IL — Joliet police arrested 27-year-old Crest Hill resident Briam Herrera early Sunday morning after officers say he got into a fight inside the Longshots Sports Bar and kicked the victim multiple times in the head. The 25-year-old victim was rushed to St. Joe's hospital by a Joliet Fire Department ambulance with a head injury. Joliet Fire Chief Greg Blaskey said the victim was in fair condition at the hospital. Herrera was brought to the Will County Jail on charges of aggravated battery. Joliet police were called to the bar located at 1609 West Jefferson St. at 2:07 a.m. Herrera got into a fight with another man in the bar and "during the fight, Herrera struck the victim and both he and the victim ended up on the ground," police reports show. "Herrera then kicked the victim's head multiple times while the victim remained on the ground. Herrera was placed into custody without incident," Joliet police announced. Will County Jail logs show that Herrera, who lives in the 2300 block of Greengold Street, is no longer in custody after posting 10 percent of his $40,000 bail.
