Here are the top three stories in Jackson today: The Mississippi Rapid Response Coalition (MRRC) and 501CTHREE are launching the Water Box at the Sykes Park Community Center in Jackson today. The Water Box will provide clean, safe water distributions to Jackson and the surrounding community. The Mississippi Rapid Response Coalition's mission is to listen and provide solutions to their community's concerns. (WJTV) A man was shot and killed on Wood Village Drive in Jackson early Tuesday morning. Officer Sam Brown said the victim was shot multiple times, and a person of interest was in custody as of Tuesday morning. Pending notification of his family, the identity of the victim has not yet been released. (WJTV) A new study is linking Jackson's record homicide rate to the state's weak gun laws. Assault rifles have become popular weapons for young people in Jackson, according to Jackson Police Chief James Davis. In fact, last year, the Capital City had the nation's highest murder rate per capita.
