STILLWATER, MN — Stillwater Area High School was placed on lockdown Tuesday morning after a teen accused of driving a stolen car fled into the school, according to police. The Oak Park Heights Police Department said officers were tracking a vehicle that was stolen out of Woodbury when they found it being driven in the high school's rear parking lot Tuesday. Police alleged the driver, who they described as a "male juvenile," ran into the school, prompting lockdown measures. He was "quickly located" and arrested at the school, police said. Stillwater Area Public Schools officials sent a message to parents Tuesday morning about the lockdown. Officials said police called just before 8 a.m. Tuesday to warn them "they were on campus in pursuit of a juvenile involved in an incident within our community." The school was then put in lockdown to keep students and staff in classrooms and prevent anyone from leaving or entering as police searched the building, officials said. The school lifted the lockdown and resumed its normal schedule Tuesday after police arrested the teen, officials said. "We are grateful to all involved for their quick response and high regard for the safety of our students and staff," district officials said in the message to families.
