ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A resident is smiling today after receiving his missing wedding ring from the Village. It was a reunion made possible by the Arlington Heights Department of Public Works and a social media post. DPW employee Ryan Holthouse, who was part of a crew responding to a water main break near the intersection of Chestnut Avenue and Olive Street on Thursday, found the wedding ring on the ground near the site. The Village of Arlington Heights then posted a photo of the ring on Facebook in a post that was shared by many on social media, including Patch. RELATED: Wedding Ring Found, Looking For Owner The Village said approximately 40 people reached out in hopes that it was their missing wedding band, but none of their descriptions matched the inscription inside the ring. That was until a call from a resident who confirmed the date inscribed. According to the Village, the caller's daughter, who now lives in California, had seen a post that was shared by a friend on Facebook. She called her parents to inform them about the ring found by Public Works, and they called to confirm the wedding date inscribed inside the ring. It was a match. On Friday, Bruce, of Arlington Heights, met at Public Works, where he and Holthouse shared their stories about how the ring was lost, found, and eventually reunited with its rightful owner. The ring had been lost for approximately one week. Bruce had been searching for the lost ring at a different location and said he never would have found the ring.
