Mind in the Making - Oregon PRO/Provider Resource Organization Cohort Description: This training series analyzes the Seven Essential Life Skills outlined in Ellen Galinsky’s book Mind in the Making. This series of 8 modules examines the most recent research findings on the skills that support children’s success in school and life. Through in-depth study and an engaging and interactive facilitated learning process, participants will critically examine how to support the early development of children in their lives. The Seven Essential Life Skills are Focus and Self Control, Perspective Taking, Communicating, Making Connections, Critical Thinking, Taking on Challenges, and Self-Directed, Engaged Learning. Set Three, Human Growth & Development. 24 hours. Live Online Webinar Dates of the sessions February 23rd Mod 0 Introduction to MITM March 2nd Mod 1 Focus and Self Control March 9th Mod 2 Perspective Taking March 16th Mod 3 Communicating March 23rd Spring Break No Class March 30th Making Connections April 6th Mod 5 Critical Thinking April 13th Mod 6 Taking on Challenges April 20th Mod 7 Self Directed Engaged Learning April 27th Implementing Mind in the Making Cost $140.00 or $40 with scholarship 25 Scholarships are available: Steps to receive scholarship help: Eligibility for the Betty Gray Early Childhood Scholarship- You must work directly with children or supervise staff who work directly with children at least 20 hours a week in an Oregon Office of Child Care licensed facility (Registered Family, Certified Family, or Certified Center). You must be at an Oregon Registry Step 1 or above. Applicants for this Scholarship will receive an automatic evaluation for an Oregon Registry Step 1 or 2 if you do not already have one.
