Description

Music production has become a hobby of mine over the past 6 months and I’m interested to see if there would be another amateur musician that may want to jam together on occasion, even if only collaboration in a virtual workspace. My musical taste is very broad and I tend to incorporate a mix of genres/styles into my music. Over the past months I have been figuring things out myself which has been a big part of what I enjoy. Listening to others is also very inspiring to me and I’ve noticed that even receiving a vocal sample sent as a voice text has inspired music that I may not have created otherwise. It is a hobby at this point and I am only looking for someone who views it the same way. I stress that because I am not trying to get gigs, just a scenario that encourages creative growth with zero pressure, zero expectations, and 100% imagination. One where we brainstorm, experiment, and bounce ideas off each other that may even sound a little silly to someone else. I work with equipment that works well for me and forces me to take new creative approaches. I am quite fond of the experimental realm and am working with synths (digital/analog/modular), have a small digital audio interface, MPC One, Mackie 8-channel mixer, and Studio One 5 Professional. Studio One does make the creation of a virtual workspace an option so collaboration in this way also works. My setup is very mobile and can accommodate the addition of someone playing guitar or another instrument. I also have a condenser mic, if you happen to sing or we just need vocal sampling, and a Flashback 2 effects pedal. Some of my favorite music comes from Alice In Chains, NIN, and Stabbing Westward but it wouldn’t surprise anyone to hear me listening to Prince or Madonna (meh, the latter consists of a few specific songs that have chord progressions I find interesting). I also like Massive Attack, Zero 7, Collide, and have some very creative moments listening to artists such as DeadMau5, James Brown, Gary Numan, or Sevdaliza. Again, it’s a broad mix and the list could go on, but I’m sure many people can relate. I’ve always been drawn to rhythms that feel a little darker and love the eastern scales, particularly Phrygian. I have no formal musical training so my attraction to certain rhythms and scales has always felt like something profound. I didn’t even know what Phrygian was until a couple of months ago but hey, none of us know anything until we learn it. It is a hobby and I do not have years of experience, but there is also something that feels more profound. Ok, enough thumb typing. 𝕃
