W&A Distribution is seeking a heavy equipment mechanic to support the maintenance of our fleet. Mechanics are responsible for appropriately maintaining semi-tractors and trailers, ensuring equipment continues to run safely, efficiently, and to DOT standards. They perform scheduled maintenance services as well as troubleshoot, diagnose and repair equipment failures. The work schedule regularly consists of 40-50 hours per week, including some Saturday morning hours and a rotating on-call schedule. Open to providing on-the-job training and paid certification to the right candidate. Prior experience is preferred in the following areas: Diagnostic computers and industry-specific software programs Diesel engines and associated components Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical problems Work with large hand tools including electrical, mechanical, and air powered Technical manuals and schematics Position Benefits: Comprehensive company insurance package (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and more) Annual stipend for work boots and safety glasses Shift premium for on-call weeks (usually 1 week per month, once fully trained) Paid holidays from Day 1; PTO after only 6 months Position Requirements: Valid Class A CDL or ability to become licensed within 6 months of start date (tuition reimbursement provided) Must have your own hand tools Knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office programs Basic math skills including adding/subtracting and measurements Fluent in English and capable of clear written and verbal communication Must be able to regularly maneuver parts and equipment weighing up to 30 lbs. and occasionally move items weighing up to 75 lbs. Required to remain stationary for extended periods of time while running diagnostic tests, interpreting test results, and performing necessary equipment maintenance.
