To learn more about the company, visit our website at www.buildandpaintportland.com. We are currently seeking a Lead Painter to supervise a crew of 3-6 other painters and painter assistants. We primarily work on the east side of Portland. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will have: *Strong communication skills and project management skills. *Proven experience in leading a crew to complete a project from start-to-finish – completing it safely and on time. *The ability to train and “bring-along” crew members – keeping them motivated and feeling positive – while completing the tasks at hand. Responsibilities: *Oversees interior and exterior painting projects for a variety of residential and commercial projects *Leads a crew of 3-6 painters and painter assistants; creates and implements a daily work plan for crew members *Leads project start-up and completes projects on time; monitoring progress on a daily basis; monitors crew member time app entries *Communicates to manager daily regarding status of current jobs, including progress, issues, and customer requests *Manages supplies and equipment per job, submits requests for additional supplies needed *Maintains a clean, organized worksite; protects customer property and household items; keeps shop organized *Serves in the role of master painter; assumes personal responsibility for a high-quality finished project *Provides excellent customer service; communicates regularly with customers in a positive and professional manner; serves as the primary onsite customer contact person *Implements company policies; maintains quality standards; ensures team compliance with federal OSHA safety guidelines and EPA lead paint laws *Provides input to management on hiring, strategic planning, crew training needs, etc. *Delivers crew training; coaches and mentors crew members to help them develop new skills and knowledge *Models a positive, productive, and supportive workplace culture; wears company uniform, follows employee guidebook rules, and keeps crew members motivated and on task *Models and maintains worksite safety; implements safety rules; identifies and resolves worksite hazards *Performs related duties to support company success Skills and Knowledge: *Top-notch spray and brush skills and sanding techniques *Broad knowledge of prepping, painting, clear coat, and staining techniques *Fast glazing, pressure washing, scraping, caulking, and masking skills *Broad knowledge of materials and finishes *Strong project management skills *Skilled at working safely on high ladders and rooftops *Basic carpentry skills *Adept at learning new techniques and skillsets Requirements: *High school diploma or equivalent *5+ years of verifiable experience in painting including 2-3 years supervising a crew. *Ability to speak and read in English and able to communicate effectively with others *Valid driver’s license (this is essential to the function of the job) *Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus Physical Demands / Work Environment: *Physically challenging work with regular bending, and kneeling *Capable of lifting 50 pounds and setting up ladders up to 28’ without assistance *Worksite locations change on a weekly and sometimes daily basis – typically within the eastside of Portland *Work environment includes a variety of weather including cold, hot, and rainy conditions
