You are invited to an immersive cultural experience! While the crisis in Afghanistan is no longer front-page news, the work is far from over -- especially because Cleveland has been the selected landing place for over 900 refugees, mostly women and children. As a city we are given a choice to consider refugees as outsiders or welcome them as new comers. We are choosing the latter, and invite you to do the same!Take part in:Food TastingKabul Market Pop-UpCommunity Building ActivitiesAuthentic Tea Time Story Telling Gallery by Photographer Sharon HughesCleveland Vibes, Kings Church, and Building Hope in the City are working together to provide an event to spotlight the beauty of a culture worth embracing as well as ways we can work together to offer them a warm welcome in the midst of the cold winter. Our mission is to create community between Clevelanders as well as empower them to help make Cleveland the best it can be for all, because Cleveland is for all. All proceeds from ticket sales and profits from shirt sales go to Building Hope in The City. We are also collecting larger donations as well as gently used and new bikes and bike accessories to be distributed to refugees by BHITC. The Hope Center is much more than a place for operating programs – it gives refugees and immigrants a place to belong, where they become part of a larger “family” of newcomers. We partner with refugees and immigrants at The Hope Center to provide community connections, family mentorship, employment, immigration counsel, after-school enrichment and tutoring – as well as human connections for daily life. Over 250 refugees and immigrants served each week.Parking instructions and other details will be added to page as well as emailed to attendees closer to event.
