Join us on Sat Mar 19, from 11:30am-1pm for a community Irish dance party in Stoughton! Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day season and the joy of moving together to live music, renowned Irish dancer Jackie O’Riley will lead dancers of any age (kids, families, seniors all welcome) in easy-to-follow, fun, approachable céilí dances (group Irish dances) to live Irish music by two of Boston’s best traditional Irish musicians. The event will be free and open to all. No experience necessary, all dances will be taught, and no special footwear required. Minors must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the event. Stoughton-born Jackie O'Riley is one of the leading exponents of traditional Irish dance in the US. She performs and teaches across N. America and Ireland and directs a non-competitive dance program for youth in its 12th year. Jackie has been leading social dances for many years and loves sharing this rich tradition with people of all abilities.Stoughton-resident Joey Abarta teaches and performs in N. America, Europe and Asia on the national bagpipe of Ireland, the uilleann pipes. In 2015 he was the recipient of a traditional arts master fellowship from the MCC.Co. Cork native Natasha Sheehy is a much-loved button accordion player on the Boston scene. Her sensitive playing and driving rhythm make her a favorite at dances and concerts.Free for the community.
