Ohio Confirms 90 New Coronavirus Deaths, 600 New Cases

COLUMBUS, OH — There were 607 new coronavirus cases confirmed in Ohio on Wednesday, the state health department announced. Since the beginning of the outbreak, Ohio has recorded 21,576 positive COVID-19 tests. In the past 24 hours, the state also confirmed that 90 Ohioans died due to complications from COVID-19. In Ohio, at least 1,225 people have died because of the virus. State officials abandoned looking at five-day trends, preferring instead 21-day trends for tracking the spread of COVID-19. Between Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon, at least 90 Ohioans died from the virus. During that same three-week average, Ohio averaged 652 new COVID-19 cases daily, which is slightly higher than the 607 new cases confirmed on Wednesday. Franklin County, home of Columbus, leads Ohio in confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 3,237 reported. Lucas County has seen the most death related to the virus, with 151 residents dying due to COVID-19 complications.
