Reserve your free ticket. Join The Newark Museum of Art as we celebrate the Filipino American community through stories, language, crafts, song and much more. The court at NMOA will be filled with artists and artisans sharing activities for the whole family. Activities 12-5pm: Make your own scarab and sword inspired by NMOA’s Filipino sword collection and learn how to use it with Francis Estrada. 12-5pm: Listen to stories by Black and Filipino authors and visit our pop-up Blasian bookstore curated by Rohan Zhou Lee. 12-4:30pm: Learn traditional dances like tinikling and the tagalog language through song with The Filipino School of New York and New Jersey. 12:30-4:30pm: Contribute to our oral history project to feature stories from the Filipino American community in New Jersey. Presented in partnership with Rutgers University. Please sign up to schedule a timeslot in advance here. Timeline of Performances and Demonstrations 12:30pm: Performance by The Filipino School of New York and New Jersey 1:30pm: Martial Arts demonstration with Francis Estrada 2:30pm: Drag Queen Story Hour 3:30pm: Performance by Broadway Barkada, a showcase of traditional and contemporary music Community Days are presented by Horizon Foundation of New Jersey MUSEUM GUIDELINES Proof of vaccination will be required from all visitors. Anyone over the age of 12 must present proof of full vaccination. Children ages 5 through 11 must have proof of one COVID-19 vaccine dose. Adult visitors (18+) must present personal identification. School ID will be required for kids ages 13 through 18. Event attendees must have their temperature screened upon entry to read below 100.4°F. Otherwise, they and their party, will not be admitted. Attendees must wear a mask unless eating or drinking. Staff, volunteers, and contractors will wear masks. Parking is available on site for $10 with SP Plus. Community Days are presented by Horizon Foundation for New Jersey  The Newark Museum of Art is a not-for-profit museum of art, science and education in Newark, New Jersey. Open Thursdays - Sundays 10am - 5pm. Closed Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, New Years Day, July 4, Thanksgiving and December 25. We welcome everyone with inclusive experiences that spark curiosity and foster community.
