Ch{ART}wells Presents: The connection between Food Art & Culture A Conversation of Black Culture from the Past, the Present, and the Future. Join host, Amanda Williams as she moderates a panel of Chicago pioneers, cultural influencers, and culinarians as they discuss their love of art, food, community, and the deep connections to the African Diaspora. Panelists include: Chef Bryant Terry, Patrick McCoy, Chef Cliff Rome and Charla Draper Amanda Williams - Chicago artist and architect, her work investigates color, race, and space while blurring the conventional lines between art and architecture. Chef Bryant Terry - Chef, food justice activist, and critically acclaimed author fighting for a more just and sustainable food system. Groundbreaking and rich, his work illuminates the intersections that exist today between poverty, structural racism, and food insecurity, in order to pave a new, better path forward. Patrick McCoy - Graduate from the University of Chicago, Patrick is an avid and well-known art collector. President of the Diasporas Rhythms is a not-for-profit institute that promotes, collects, and preserves art from the African diasporas. Chef Cliff Rome - Local Chef and art collector, prominent restaurateur, and owner of Blanc art gallery focusing his efforts on “Mise-en-Place,” a not-for-profit, hospitality training program based in Chicago, building the foundation for young people in the community to become successful members of society. Charla Draper - President and Owner of “Its Food Biz,” former food editor of Ebony magazine. Charla is a food expert and accomplished professional with diversified experience in marketing and editorial communications focused on food—a highly successful national, product publicist, and test kitchen professional.
