Participate in the David Groggins Challenge and help raise money for a military hero receive a PTSD Service Dog Coined by the former Navy SEAL who goes notoriously hard in all his workouts, the David Goggins Challenge (also known as the 4x4x48) involves running four miles every four hours for two straight days, at the end of which participants will have covered 48 miles in 48 hours. Starting Friday, March 04, 2022, at 8:00pm, military veteran, Jordon Houle from Nutrishop Chino Hills will participate in the David Goggins Challenge. Jordon will embark on his 48-mile journey as a personal test of his endurance while raising money to train a PTSD Service Dog for Staff Sergeant Seth Barnes. Staff Sergeant Seth Barnes was born and raised in Circleville, OH. After he finished high school in June of 2010, he enlisted into the Marine Corps. Upon completing boot camp, Seth was deployed to Afghanistan as an Aviation Ordnance Technician. A year later, Seth became part of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. In 2016, Seth was selected for and graduated from Explosive Ordnance Disposal school. After graduating EOD School, he was stationed in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. During his time in Hawaii, he conducted multiple exercises and missions throughout the pacific. In 2019 Staff Sergeant Barnes was stationed at Camp Pendleton with the 1st Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company where he did one deployment. After his deployment he was selected to be a part of the Littoral Explosive Ordnance Neutralization Platoon and attended Navy EOD Dive School. Seth currently serves as a Team Leader and Diver within LEON Platoon at 1st EOD Company and is in the process of transitioning out of the Marine Corps. Seth is being teamed up with a 2-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer, Ocho, which has been donated by Vohne Liche Kennels. Vohne Liche Kennel is an industry leader in Bomb Explosive Detector dogs, training civilian and military working dogs worldwide. Ocho has prior training as an Explosive Detection Canine but will be retiring to serve in a different way as Seth’s PTSD Service Dog. Ocho’s has a strong work drive, which is only surpassed by his need to please and be affectionate with his handler. This quality made detection work difficult for him, but he is a great candidate as a service dog. Seth is the 8th underwater EOD specialist in the Marine Corps. Ocho in Spanish means eight. Ocho was named at birth when Seth’s story was still unfolding to this point in his life. The similarities in both stories have already solidified these to in ways and bonded them for life. Paws 4 Success will be training with Ocho and Seth. Starting Friday, March 4 and continuing until the close of the challenge on Sunday, March 6, Paws 4 Success will remain open to function as a base station for all of those who wish to participate and to help support the community effort to raise funds for Seth and Ocho. Paws 4 Success will have special events going on throughout the weekend so please continue to follow us on social media or sign up for updates through our website at: www.paws4success.org
