The Spurgeon Library Conference is an academic conference that engages Spurgeon scholarship in a way useful to pastors and church leaders. The Spurgeon Library Conference is a one-day academic conference that engages Spurgeon scholarship in a way that is useful for pastors and church leaders. The conference will explore the enduring legacy of C. H. Spurgeon around the theme of “Spurgeon, the Theologian,” and will consider the importance of theology for preaching and ministry. The cost to attend is $20, which includes book giveaways. Guest speakers will be Tom Nettles, Ray Rhodes, and Geoff Chang. TOM NETTLES has most recently served as the Professor of Historical Theology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He previously taught at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School where he was Professor of Church History and Chair of the Department of Church History. Prior to that, he taught at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary. Along with numerous journal articles and scholarly papers, Dr. Nettles is the author and editor of fifteen books. Among his books are By His Grace and For His Glory; Baptists and the Bible, James Petigru Boyce: A Southern Baptist Statesman, and Living by Revealed Truth: The Life and Pastoral Theology of Charles H. Spurgeon. RAY RHODES, JR. serves as founding pastor of Grace Community Church of Dawsonville, GA and as president of Nourished in the Word Ministries. He has served four congregations over three decades of pastoral ministry and for fifteen years, he has led Nourished in the Word. Ray has published several books and holds theological degrees from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div.) and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (D.Min.). He is married to Lori and they are blessed with six daughters and four grandchildren. Ray has long been a Spurgeon enthusiast, and his doctoral thesis focused on the marriage and spirituality of Charles and Susannah Spurgeon. GEOFF CHANG (Ph.D., Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary) serves as Assistant Professor of Church History and Historical Theology and the Curator of the Spurgeon Library at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO. Prior to this, he served on the ministry staff at Houston Chinese Church (Houston, TX) and Capitol Hill Baptist Church (Washington, DC), and most recently as associate pastor at Hinson Baptist Church (Portland, OR). He is married to Stephanie, and they have three children.
