Press release from the City of Golden Valley: October 30, 2020 A federal court ruled Thu, Oct 29 that ballots received after 8 pm on Election Day must be set aside and could face legal challenges that would result in them not being counted. Due to this ruling, Hennepin County and the City of Golden Valley no longer advise residents mail their ballots back. Instead, drop it off at Golden Valley City Hall (7800 Golden Valley Rd) or the Hennepin County Government Center (300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis). If you have already sent your completed ballot back by mail, you can check the status of that ballot on the Minnesota Secretary of State website. Still Many Ways To Vote This Year Although the November election is only days away, there are still multiple ways residents can vote. Ballot Drop-Off: As stated above, it is no longer recommended to send completed absentee ballots back by mail. Instead, drop it off at Golden Valley City Hall (7800 Golden Valley Rd) or the Hennepin County Government Center (300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis). Absentee Vote In-Person: City Hall will be open Fri, Oct 30, 8 am–4:30 pm, Sat, Oct 31, 10 am–3 pm, and Mon, Nov 2, 8 am–5 pm for voters looking to cast their ballots before election day. Vote On Election Day: Vote at your local precinct on election day. Polls are open 7 am–8 pm. Find your polling location here.
