According to Buffalo Department of Public Works Commissioner Michael Finn, the fluctuating weather has caused constant freezing and thawing that's contributed to pothole development. Residents are asked to call the Department of Public Works' 311 line to report any pothole sightings. (Spectrum News)A Reuters article found high lead levels in Buffalo, designating it as a "Troubled Community" on its interactive lead levels map. According to the article, the city's "old housing and high poverty create the perfect conditions for one of the worst childhood lead poisoning problems in the country." (Buffalo Rising)A professor at the University of Buffalo aims to use artificial intelligence (AI) to reach vulnerable, hard-to-reach segments of the population. Dr. Helen Wang, associate professor of communication at the university, is working with the Population Foundation of India to create an innovative chatbot for young people in India. The chatbot, named SnehAI, shares critical information about sexual and reproductive health in both Hindi and English.
