CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — The Heights Schools resumed athletic training on Wednesday. A student in the district tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend, halting all practices.
The Cuyahoga County Board of Health gave the district permission to resume athletic activities on July 1, following a cleaning of all athletic surfaces and spaces, the district said in a letter to families.
"Additionally out of an abundance of caution, our maintenance and cleaning staff further sanitized bleachers, railings, tops of fences, soccer goals and the baseball field. Inside, they further sanitized door handles and used the Clorox 360 machine in both gyms, the weight room, cardio room, restroom and hallways in the athletic area," the district said.
Board of Health staffers may reach out to Heights families to discuss quarantine or isolation information. The school district is urging families to cooperate with the board.
Families are also being warned that scammers have attempted to capitalize on the COVID-19 pandemic by posing as Cuyahoga County Board of Health staffers. A county health official will never ask a resident for their social security number or financial information over the phone.
