CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — Drive-thru flu shots will be available in Cleveland Heights on Oct. 16, the city announced.
Pharmacists from Walgreens will be administering flu shots to residents from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of Cleveland Heights Community Center, 1 Monticello Boulevard.
Attendees need to register for a time slot to receive a flu shot. Registration can be done online through the Walgreens website. Attendees will also need to fill out a form prior to the vaccination event. Insurance should cover the cost of the shot, the city said.
The flu has already arrived in Ohio. The first confirmed case of the flu, this season, was discovered in Putnam County on Sept. 16, Gov. Mike DeWine announced. Ohio officials have urged residents to get a flu shot to prevent a devastating influenza season while COVID-19 is still raging throughout the Buckeye State.
"It is critically important that you get a flu vaccine this year and get it early. The flu shot is another layer of protection, helps prevent strain on our healthcare system and keeps our workforce healthy," DeWine said.
