Here are the top three stories today in Des Moines: A police chase that started in Norwalk and ended in Des Moines concluded with a crash and two people arrested. Brittany Loftin, who was the driver and was also in possession of narcotics, and Luis Castillo were both arrested. Castillo also had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest for a sex offender registry violation. (WHO TV 13 Des Moines News & Weather) Des Moines is now one step closer to a final recommendation for a recreation center to be built on the city's north side. Five community public forums, hosted by Des Moines and Chicago-based architecture firm Latent Design, took place to help include residents in the planning process. They will host a final open house on Mar. 24 at the Grubb YMCA to the community for their final recommendation for the center. (Des Moines Register) Four people were shot early Sunday morning in Des Moines, causing police to outline steps to curb violence. The victims told police a car driving by shot them and a friend in the group shot back. All the victims were taken to a local hospital and are expected to survive.
