Cedar Lee Theatre Reopening Date Postponed

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — The iconic Cedar Lee Theatre will not reopen July 1, as previously announced. The cinema's owners blamed the delay in releasing new movies for the postponement. Cedar Lee Theatre is owned by Cleveland Cinemas, which also owns Apollo Theatre, Capitol Theatre, Chagrin Cinemas and Tower City Cinemas. All of those movie theaters will remain closed until further notice. "Our business is reliant on the release of new films from Hollywood as well as key independent distributors," said Jon Forman, president of Cleveland Cinemas in a statement. "With the recent announcement of release dates being pushed back on blockbusters such as Christopher Nolan's "Tenet," we have decided to delay our reopening. We hope to have new re-opening dates for our locations soon." Cleveland Cinemas initially announced Cedar Lee Theatre would reopen on July 1. The cinema planned to reopen with a bevy of new safety and health precautions to protect customers from the new coronavirus. Supporters of Cedar Lee Theatre and other Cleveland Cinemas properties can rent and stream movies through the group's website.
