CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — Cleveland Heights is offering grants to small businesses within the city, with a maximum grant payment of $3,000. The city's Small Business Relief Grant Program is funded through the CARES Act. Cleveland Heights has $300,000 in funding to distribute. All grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. Grants are available to brick-and-mortar businesses with 25 or fewer employees. "Cleveland Heights City Council understands the pressures on our small businesses," said Mayor Jason Stein. "We completely support the allocation of CARES funds to this program to help support our small businesses to get through these difficult times." The application program will open Tuesday at 10 a.m. All Cleveland Heights small businesses who meet the above criteria are encouraged to apply, city officials said. Applications can be downloaded on the city's website. Businesses selected to receive a grant will be reimbursed up to $3,000 for eligible costs incurred between March 22, 2020 and the date of the application. Eligible costs include: Mortgage or rent payments for business premisesUtility payments for business premisesPersonal protective equipment to protect employees and customersExpenses incurred to provide physical barriers or promote social distancingQuestions regarding the program should be referred to Brian Anderson at 216-906-0875 or [email protected].
