CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — One Nighttown customer is already in the holiday spirit.
The iconic jazz club, located in Cleveland Heights' Cedar Fairmount neighborhood, will be going into a voluntary shutdown because of the surge of COVID-19 cases. Before the club closes though, one customer decided to deliver an early present.
As the business prepared to shutter for the foreseeable future, a customer waltzed in and ordered a $7.50 Stella Artois beer, according to Nighttclub owner Brendan Ring. For most people, that would mean a tip of $3, at most.
When the customer handed Ring his receipt, there were three extra zeroes after the tip. The customer had left a $3,000 on a $7.50 tab.
Understandably dumbfounded, Ring ran after the customer, sure he had made a mistake.
"I ran after him and he said no mistake we will see you when you reopen! Unbelievable but symbolic of the kind of quality folks we have know at Nighttown all these years," Ring said.
