Press release from the City of Missoula:
February 14, 2022
Ron's River Trail on the Clark Fork's north shore will be closed for construction from Beartracks Bridge (Higgins Ave.) west to the Caras Park restrooms from February 14 to May 13. A detour will be in place; commuters should expect to add 5 to 10 minutes of travel time to their route. Detour map
The Caras Park project will improve the circulation, capacity, and aesthetics of one of Missoula's most popular parks and downtown destinations. The improvements include new and expanded amphitheater seating, multi-use lawn space for events and everyday activities, improved connections between the river and Caras park, and an 18-foot-wide riverfront promenade. Additionally, accessible pathways, vendor and electrical hookups, new lighting, benches, lawn and trees will create a safer, more accessible, and more sustainable park that Missoulians can enjoy for years to come.
The project's $1.4 million cost is funded by $750,000 from the City's Capital Improvement Program and a $650,000 contribution from the Missoula Downtown Foundation.
The plan is part of the North Riverside Parks and Trails Master Plan, adopted by the City Council in 2020. For more information, contact Parks and Trails Design Development Specialist Nathan McLeod via email or phone 552-6261.
