Description
CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — Three employees at Fairfax Elementary have tested positive for COVID-19.
The school building was disinfected Thursday using a Clorox 360 machine, the district said. One of the infected workers also visited the Heights Board of Education. Crews have also thoroughly disinfected that facility, Superintendent Elizabeth Kirby said.
"The Cuyahoga County Health Department has been notified of these positive tests, and they will trace and contact appropriate individuals according to their guidelines," Kirby said.
The Cuyahoga County Board of Health will contact anyone who may have been exposed to the infected educators.
This is at least the second time a person working at the Heights Schools has tested positive for COVID-19. A trades crew worker working at Heights High contracted the virus on July 30, the district said.
The Heights Schools will begin the year with remote-only education.
A previous version of this story said the employees working at Fairfax were teachers. The district confirmed they are not teachers.
