Position Title: Shop Hand / Apprentice Repair Technician Organizational Overview: VetPowered, LLC is a growing San Diego based corporation (for-profit) specializing in manufacturing, welding, fabrication, machinery repair and customized training under private and US Government contracts. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Daily cleaning (i.e. sanitizing common areas, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning, taking out the trash etc.). • Preparing and packaging of items for shipment. • Learn to read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and other materials. • Assisting in the Machine Shop. • Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance and uniform at all times. • Be extremely punctual and always arrive at the worksite or customer location early. • Provide extremely high levels of Customer Support by always providing exceptionally professional, courteous, and cheerful service. • Learn to perform the repair and maintenance of all Industrial Equipment as directed. This includes all shears, press brakes, ironworkers, saws, lathes, mills, CNC plasma tables, CNC oxy-acetylene tables, CNC lasers, CNC waterjets, sanders, and other associated equipment. This may require towing, rigging, and transporting equipment safely and efficiently. • Accurately document the maintenance and repairs of all machining and related machinery repair equipment and vehicles assigned to the machinery department as well as other equipment and vehicles that you may be assigned. • Assist with day to day operations around the shop and in the field to include but not limited to Machinery Repair & Maintenance, Machinery Cleaning, Diagnosing, Disassembly and Re-Assembly of Machinery, Equipment, Vehicles, and Tools. • Deliver and pickup parts, materials, supplies, etc. as required and/or directed. • Running errands. • Other duties as may be assigned. Requirements and Qualifications: • US Citizenship is required. • Veterans preferred. • Must have a working knowledge in safely operating hand and power tools, machine tools, and electrical measuring instruments. • Must be customer focused and possess a valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record verified by the DMV, excellent interpersonal skills, good verbal and written communication skills, initiative and self-motivation. • Must be able to read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and other materials. Education/Experience: • High School diploma. • Two-year technical degree, Military NEC or MOS, or trade school equivalent preferred. • 2-4 years’ experience in performing repair and maintenance of electro-mechanical equipment. • Fork lift license preferred or will train. • Demonstrated success in providing exceptional support services to a team. • Proven ability to do the little things and go the extra mile that makes a big difference. Physical Requirements: • Safely lift up to 50lbs with both hands and without the use of a forklift. • Position includes sitting, standing, bending, walking, lifting, climbing, climb stairs, crawling, finger, wrist, elbow & arm coordination/movement that is consistent with customary tools and equipment in a manufacturing environment including but not limited to power and hand tools Hours: Full-time, hourly, non-exempt, year-round. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. Occasional out of state and/or weekend training may be required. Pay Range: $17.00 – $23.00 per hour, commensurate to relevant, documented experience.
