CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — Three people have been shot and killed in separate incidents in Cleveland Heights over the past two weeks. City officials believe the cases are unrelated. On Sept. 12, Malik Moore, 23, was killed while walking down Oakdale Road. Then, on Wednesday, a 26-year-old man was shot to death in an apartment complex on Noble Road. Finally, on Saturday morning, a 24-year-old was killed in a drive-by shooting. "The three incidents appear to not be connected. From what I've seen, there seems to be an uptick in crime in many cities. We are looking into that," a city spokesperson told Patch. Police Chief Annette Mecklenburg said she is stepping up police patrols in areas of the city touched by violence. "The Cleveland Heights police department continues to have a visible presence throughout the city. We are increasing our patrols in those areas where the recent shootings occurred and any locations we have seen an uptick in crime," she said in an emailed statement. Anyone with information about the shootings should contact Cleveland Heights police at 216-321-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 216-252-7463. Reward money is available for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspect(s). Tipsters can remain anonymous.
