CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — Cleveland Heights police are holding a toy drive on Saturday. The toy drive will be held at Caledonia Community Center, 960 Caledonia Ave., from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Donations of unwrapped, lightly used or new toys will be collected. The toys will be given directly to Cleveland Heights children during the holiday season, the city said. Members of the Caledonia Community Center will distribute the toys. The toy drive came together when the Caledonia Community Center approached police and asked if they wanted to hold a toy drive. Investigator Tyler Allen brought the idea to Police Chief Annette Mecklenburg, who quickly agreed to the toy drive. "I am so proud of all members of the Police Department who have already started taking up a collection of toys for kids in our community. This has been a tough year for so many people and I do not think that there is a community that has not been affected by the pandemic," Mecklenburg said. The police chief also added a shout out for Caledonia Community Center. "The Caledonia Community Center has really stepped up to make sure that kids in our community have a wonderful holiday and we are more than happy to assist in making that happen," she said.
