DANVILLE, CA — More businesses may reopen soon in Danville and elsewhere in Contra Costa County Wednesday as the county looks to move in alignment with state guidelines.
As of 8 a.m. Wednesday, the county will allow personal care services involving close contact with the face to reopen outdoors, with the exception of piercing and tattooing, Contra Costa County said Monday in a news release. Nonmedical electrolysis will also not be allowed.
Racetracks and cardrooms may reopen outdoors, and production of music, film and television may resume. Professional sports can resume without audiences.
The county will no longer regulate businesses and activities beyond what the state calls for. The new adjustments are in alignment with state guidelines for the purple tier of the state's four-tiered COVID-19 risk system. The purple tier indicates widespread risk and comes with the most stringent regulations.
Tier two, or the red tier, represents substantial risk. Should COVID-19 statistics improve in Contra Costa County, more businesses would be permitted to reopen.
There were 15,424 cases of the coronavirus in Contra Costa County Monday, 14,195 of which were recovered. There have been 192 deaths.
There have been 262 cases in Danville, including 31 in the past two weeks, according to the county. San Ramon has seen 312 cases of the coronavirus, including 36 in the past two weeks.
