WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, OH MAY 14, 2020 – Effective Leadership Academy (ELA) wants parents to know that Camp LEAD is still happening this summer, presented as a new virtual experience called Camp LEAD Online. Due to continual changes regarding social gatherings, ELA has been working behind the scenes to get a new curriculum for Camp LEAD ready that can be delivered to campers virtually. Embracing Change While the Governor has yet to make an official statement regarding summer camp requirements, most camp locations have already made the decision to remain closed for in-person activities. As a result, ELA has made the difficult decision to cancel in-person Camp LEAD sessions and is enthusiastic about the conversion to highly engaging online experiences. Campers currently registered for this summer will be notified by ELA regarding the cancellation of in-person camps. Parents that wish to keep their student(s) enrolled in Camp LEAD this summer will receive a reimbursement for the difference. ELA will honor full refunds for parents not interested in transferring their student(s) to Camp LEAD Online. "Now is an opportune time to consider having your campers be a part of Camp LEAD Online with family and friends. Through interactive games and activities students will develop self-leadership skills, think creatively, and learn how to collaborate in a changing world. Mastering these essential skills is needed right now more than ever," said Founder and Executive Director Flo Brett. A New Virtual Camp LEAD Experience Camp LEAD Online will be offered as a virtual option at a reduced rate of $99, delivered in a two-hour module Monday through Friday with a variety of dates and times to accommodate families' schedules. Campers will access the interactive and engaging program through Zoom, a user-friendly video conferencing application. Financial need scholarships will still be available on a first come, first serve basis for families who qualify. Registration is available now at effectivela.org/camp-lead-online. Online Programming Expansion Success ELA's recent experience in quickly pivoting its award-winning programming to a new virtual model, ELA Online, has been a success. This program has expanded from its parent-paid option to also work with local school districts including Shaker Heights Middle School, Firelands Elementary School, and North Ridgeville City Schools. Camp LEAD Online will still stretch personal limits, educate, empower and equip campers to take away the critical success skills needed to become a leader in today's world.
