DANVILLE, CA — Contra Costa County voters are wasting no time in getting their ballots cast and returned to the county registrar of voters. Of 703,000 registered voters, the county had received approximately 332,000 votes by Wednesday, according to the county's registrar of voters website. That breaks down to 47 percent of ballots already safely in the hands of election officials.
And Danville residents are doing even better, with 54 percent of votes returned.
Here's a look at how other cities and towns in Contra Costa County are doing in returning ballots —
The 703,000 voters is the latest count from the county, which is an increase of 28,000 since the latest report from the California Secretary of State's Office.
If you are planning to vote in person at one of the vote centers, the registrar has this advice, "All poll workers, voters, and other visitors are required to wear a face mask at all times. If needed, a mask will be provided. Due to COVID distancing requirements, a limited number of people are allowed in the voting area at a time. All voters will wait in line outside until instructed to enter. The voting area will be arranged to allow for six feet between individuals, and–when possible–the room will be set up for a single flow that reduces cross-traffic."
The rest of the Bay Area is also voting at a torrid pace, with more than two million ballots returned in nine counties.
Nearby Alameda County has returned 43 percent of ballots, the same rate of return as San Francisco.
Ballots must be turned in by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, election day. You may put them in a mailbox, an official ballot drop box, or return them to any vote center. The county's vote centers will be open Saturday through Tuesday.
