A fascinating afternoon of African American firefighter history, with guided tours, activities, and more Celebrate the reopening of the African American Firefighter Museum with Summer Sundays! This is a great afternoon for the whole family, with special surprises for future firefighters. You will: Take a 40-minute guided tour led by an expert historian, filled with stories and little-known details about the African American firefighters' legacy here in Los AngelesExplore the grounds of our historic Fire Station No. 30, which operated as a segregated firehouse from 1924 to 1955Experience a real fire truck up closeEnjoy unique and fun photo opportunities.... and more!We thank our community of supporters and look forward to welcoming you back for Summer Sundays at the African American Firefighter Museum. ABOUT OUR TIMED-ENTRY TOURS AND MUSEUM Visits are currently timed entry, beginning with a tour. Tours start promptly at 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm, and 3:00 pm. Please reserve your ticket for the tour time you'd like, and plan to arrive 15 minutes early. Before and after the tour, guests are welcome to enjoy additional museum activities available outside. Summer Sundays will be held every Sunday from July 11 through August 1. As additional dates are added, they will be announced on Eventbrite and Facebook. COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS To ensure the safety of guests, staff, and volunteers, the African American Firefighter Museum closely follows all standards established by the CDC, local, and state agencies. Admission is timed entry and tickets are limited capacity. By reserving a ticket, you agree to adhere to all museum safety protocols. These include showing valid photo identification, proof of full vaccination or negative COVID-19 test performed within72 hours as required by LA County and LA City protocol, maintaining social distancing between parties, wearing a mask, and avoiding contact with objects and others. Home testing kit results will not be accepted for entry. Staff reserves the right to remove any guest in violation of these policies. Please do not enter the premises if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, or have had close contact with someone known or suspected to have COVID-19. Located inside historic Fire Station No. 30 in Los Angeles, California, the African American Firefighter Museum is the first and only free-standing museum dedicated to the African American firefighter experience in the United States.
