Volunteer music news publication seeks tastemaker for new music column

Craigslist's masked emails don't always go through** RIFF, a *volunteer-run* music news publication, is one of the largest music news publications in the SF Bay Area, with more than 120,000 readers monthly. We're searching for a *volunteer* columnist to contribute a new music column on a rotation of once every 4-5 weeks. (Your involvement could increase in other areas if you're interested). During the week you write this column, this position involves listening to dozens of submitted songs and using an existing criteria selecting your favorite 6 to 7 songs, and then writing a paragraph about each of the six. This is a great outlet if you already blog about music and are looking for a large outlet, if you love music and have something to say about it but don't have journalism experience, or want to listen to more music before anyone else. This is a volunteer position that requires about an hour of listening to music and an hour of writing during the week where your rotation comes up (which will be once every four or five weeks). If you do well and are interested in doing more with us, opportunities include * album reviews * concert reviews (even if you are outside of the Bay Area) * artist interviews * news As a team of real news journalists, we care a lot about integrity and news. We've led coverage of the music industry's and Bay Area's response to the pandemic and social justice issues. It's also a lot of fun. We're a staff of about 50 volunteers who work closely together on deadline. We shape the best coverage of music in the Bay Area, and we'll eventually make some money in the process, too.
