Hello again, Franklin! Important update: You all, as readers, have made the Franklin Daily so successful that it is my honor to announce the next stage of the newsletter. Here are the top three stories in Franklin today: The American Red Cross is continuing its partnership with the Nashville Predators Foundation to host a multi-city blood drive from Feb. 21 through Feb. 25. The American Red Cross continues to experience a nationwide blood donation crisis and donors of all blood types are urged to make an appointment to donate as soon as possible. One opportunity to donate, with a location quite close to Franklin, will be happening on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at the City of Brentwood. (Clarksville Online) High school seniors and current college students who live in Williamson County are encouraged to apply for a scholarship from Leadership Franklin. The non-profit organization will award one $1,500 scholarship to a student who meets the scholarship criteria. Applications are due on Mar. 4 at 12 p.m. Applicants must have a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average to be considered. A 500-word essay and a letter of recommendation are also required to complete the application package. (Williamson Source) Iconic performer Willie Nelson will perform at the FirstBank Amphitheater as a part of his tour on Friday, May 6. The announcement comes after canceling performances at indoor venues; while there was no specific reason given for the cancelation of indoor events, his team did state he would not be doing indoor concerts for the near future. This year's exhibit is based on the lineage and descendants of Nelson Wilson, Sr., who is the 2022 Pioneer Family for the African American Heritage Society of Williamson County. Many were on hand to learn about Franklin's first inclusive playground designed for all ages and abilities, slated to be built at the Southeast Municipal Complex.
