Guitarist/Songwriter Seeking Like-Minded, Music-First Bandmates

Description

Thanks for clicking on my post! I'm in my 30s, and am currently writing and performing around the front range as a singer-songwriter. I like what I'm doing, but being a solo performer is limiting, and the kind of music that I really want to create and get excited about needs more! More talent, more input, more sound. Music is the most important thing in my life, and I want to make a proper go at it with like-minded creators. I feel like all musicians are kind of starting from the ground up in these times, and it's an interesting time to get something new going. As far as genres go, I'm thinking some sort of rock, but I like all music, so I'm open -- no need to list a bunch of influences. I'd like it to be hook-driven and accessible, without going full-on pop. Something unique and genuine, that maybe people want to move to -- or at least want to listen to again. High-energy would be great! I'm not good at jazz, and only ok at metal, but not looking for either of those -- or any pure genre, necessarily, for that matter. In my experience, the musical direction takes on a life of its own in a band, and that's one of the things I'm looking forward to. I'm not the answer for lead vocals, but I'd like to sing on occasion, or sing backup, but it's not necessary. All instruments welcome in the future, but the core of whom this ad is for is vocalist, drummer, bassist. Keys could also work. I'm more than happy to send links to tons of my solo stuff -- it's not what I want our band to sound like, but you'd at least know I exist. I'm interested in starting a band, one at a time, if necessary, or joining a formed band as a guitarist, if it fits what I'm looking for. What I'm looking for: Serious musicians. People that take their craft seriously, while also enjoying it! Willing to make the music everything if it's a good project, quit day jobs and drop everything to tour it, etc, whatever it takes. Knowledgable musicians. I'm a self-taught musician -- I get it. However, there should be a good base in music theory there, and a constant strive to get better. Borrowed chords, progressions in modes, etc. I don't want anything too jammy, and I don't want to get stuck into just doing variations of a I-IV-V-vi in a 4/4. I'd like to be a big part of the songwriting, and I'm looking for bandmates that are confident and feel the same -- or are at least proficient enough in their instrument to adapt to the songwriting process, if they do take a backseat in the songwriting. Musicians that make time. It's always hard at the beginning. Nothing happens overnight. It's even harder when there's not enough practice time and not enough gigs happening to get a good, creative thing going. Even a good band gets stalled like that. I don't have a practice space, but I'm willing to travel, and also willing to play whenever and as many times a week as anyone wants. I have quality gear, and am willing to get more as needed for where this thing goes, as well as commit financially for my share of other band things in the future, such as practice space, studio time, whatever. What I'm Not Looking For: A Cover Band. I understand that covers will be a big part of playing live, and will probably be where the band learns to gel a little bit at first, but the goal is to create. I honestly haven't played many covers as part of a band in a while, so there would be a bit of a learning curve on my part there. A Side Project. Nothing against it if you love what you do, but if you just like to play out here and there locally, and can't dedicate much more time than that in the future, or don't have more aspirations than just part-time, then I'd rather direct my energy to continuing my solo thing. Flakes, Raging Assholes, Addicts. I feel like I'm an extrovert, and fairly easy to get along with. I don't judge people, don't care about people's personal choices, and I have my own vice(s) and my own life, but please don't have serious addictions or too much drama or be impossible to get along with. Thanks for reading, and contact me if interested!
